On the Kay-De Blog youtube channel this past week, we looked at dating, courtship and marriage. Listen, I've learned so much on marriage this past weekend that I'm like wow! Perhaps there is a lot more to share. Check out the videos and share what you know and have learned. Let's grow together!

You can still catch up on the Season 4 interviews at anchor.fm/konversations.

Season 5 starts today though! If I were you... well Kuz! Do the right things and listen to the podcast, will you?!

Anyway, let's get Kooking!

This week we are making fried mashed potato balls!

Ingredients:

  • 5 medium-sized potatoes

  • 1/4 cup of flour

  • Any herbs and spices of your choice for taste

  • 1 small onion + 1 clove of garlic

  • 1 cup of grated cheddar cheese

  • 2 eggs

  • 5 strips of bacon

  • Oil to fry

Method:

  1. Peel and boil potatoes in salted water until soft. Check with a fork for softness after 20 minutes of boiling on medium heat. Once softened, set aside to cool.

  2. Fry the bacon until it is nice and crispy and then leave to cool. Finely chop onion along with any fresh green vegetable (like parsley or spring onions) for garnishing.

  3. Mix raw vegetable, seasoning, flour and finely chopped bacon in one bowl.

  4. Mash the cooled potatoes and add cheese as well as one egg. Mix a bit then add the flour mixture and mix thoroughly.

  5. Form mashed potatoes into small balls. Flour your hands to avoid sticking. Leave the balls to set in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

  6. Bring some oil to boil either in a deep-fryer or pot.

  7. Season some flour, about half a cup, and beat 1 egg in a separate bowl. Dip each ball into the egg and then roll in the flour mixture then fry until golden brown. You can fry as many balls at a time as your pan can carry without being overcrowded.

  8. Create your dip with 2 tablespoons of fruit chutney, 1 tablespoon of tomato sauce (ketchup) and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. If you like spice, you can add a bit of pepper or chili powder.

  9. Serve as a side dish or snack.

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
